These carved pews are in the Royal Garrison Church, Old Portsmouth, in the chancel where there is a roof, the roof of the nave having been blown off by a 1941 bomb.
Although Ray and I had made a recent visit to this church, we returned there to show our friends staying with us.
My photos of the pews on the first occasion were hopeless - way too dark and I am trying hard to follow sooc each day, so I decided against post-processing.
On the second visit I altered my settings including exposure compensation and got this much better result. So thanks to @vignouse and nf-sooc-2018 I have learned something once more!
p.s. have been a bit absent from commenting lately, mostly because of having company and going out and about, will try harder this week
Superb detail captured in very limited light I find it really helps to use high iso as well as exposure compensation in these type of conditions, lovely image full of detail and light Hazel:)
Thanks, Richard. It was good to make a passable attempt at something which seemed near impossible! Great that a sooc challenge can offer unexpected learning opps.
It's worth a look, Jackie - great vistas from the roofless nave to the roofed chancel and vice versa, and great stained glass. Open on Tuesdays only, staffed by enthusiastic volunteers.
@quietpurplehaze ooh my days off Tuesday too, will definitely take a proper look. It's probably never been open when been in Old Portsmouth at weekends. Phew I have z good excuse!!
Thanks Peter. I often keep my iso on auto so it was the camera which chose the high iso but I will bear your tip in mind, thanks.
