from the sublime to the ridiculous

How it comes across to me anyway: the motto of the Fetherstonhaugh family at Uppark, supposedly deep and full of meaning - surround by paper chains and cardboard cut-out ballerinas.

(Just getting into my Christmas spirit.)
I think the Fanshawe family specialise in the ridiculous, starting with the way they spell their family name !

Interesting and thought inspiring image Hazel, I did Latin at school and Quintus Horatius Flaccus quotations we had to learn “I shall not wholly die and a great part of me will escape the grave” didn't understand them then and still don't, lol:)

Interesting - thank you Peter - you are more informed than me! Well I guess we live on in others' memories.....

I agree with you, Hazel, we live on when other people remember us.
I like the ballerinas.

Decorations are different from the usual but a nice capture. I think we live on in the hearts of those that loved us and memories of those that didn't.

Love them...

True motto, as long we are remembered. I find the ballerina’s nice for a children’s party but here a bit strange.

Cool picture.

I like how there's a colored loop in among the printed-paper ones that matches the lovely ballerinas.

Thank you for the comment shared on my little pug-dog's picture. Lana is definitely making funny memories for my family.

Seems to me it's only a difficulty if we see ourselves as individuals who are born, live and die. The difficulty is resolved If I consider myself as part of a species and the job of a species is to keep itself going. @pcoulson
