On a local walk with my camera on Christmas Eve, I stopped at the local church for a sit down.
There were red lanterns at the end of some pews and I raised the camera to take a shot. When I viewed it I found the Christmas lights decorations appeared as a line of blue bokeh.
Then the vicar and his wife, whom I had never met, came in and I showed it to them by way of an introduction. (I used to know the previous vicar, not from church attendance, but because he had two alsatians whom Jinks hated with a passion. When we met the three of them out for a walk, Jinks used to bark hysterically and uncontrollably whilst the vicar and I tried to hold a placatory conversation above the din.)
The new vicar told me they were about to have an impromptu nativity play. I remarked that I thought I had seen a polar bear - but he turned out to be a sheep.
I mentioned how beautiful I thought were the Remembrance Day celebrations at the church for the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice. The vicar told me that his grandfather was killed in WW2. I spoke about my dad's book and wrote down the details before I left.
A person also came into the church while I was sitting there with my camera. This person was dressed in something white and furry which I thought looked like a polar bear. But it was a sheep for the nativity play!
It does indeed Hazel, your photography opens so many conversations! Mine never dies....I think having a proper camera in your hand helps, I always feel like a part time photographer with my iPhone! Well I suppose I am actually! Love that blue line, what a bonus!
Sam, thanks - I liked this accidental bokeh too - and I can always tell a story but worry about boring everyone!
Wendy, thank you, I will carry on telling stories!
Beautiful photo
No I didn’t! I don't know why!
