This morning we decided to go out for an early walk and breakfast.
As we ordered in The Beach Hut Café at the riverside at Hamble, I wondered if the young lady serving would participate in my strangers' series. Perhaps I asked a bit too quickly as she seemed surprised and a little hesitant but she soon agreed saying that her sister is a keen photographer and she is often a subject in her photos.
I introduced myself; meet Evie. The background was quite busy but I decided to deal with that later and took a few shots as Evie made our coffee.
She was not very keen to see the photos on the camera screen but I showed her just one and she liked it. She is a student about to start the second year of a degree course in fashion design and is working in the café in the holidays 'to beat the student slump.'
Evie very much enjoys designing and making her own clothes and is also kept busy by 'a lot of dogs' at home. I might have pursued this but another customer had come into the café and was standing behind us.
I gave Evie my card for contact to receive photos, thanked her and apologised to the new customer. He was on his mobile and said it was no problem.
We went upstairs to the terrace to wait for our bacon sandwiches.
Of all the great photos of Evie (that is not meant to sound immodest!) I really liked this first shot because of her beautiful smile as she just went to push a small stray piece of hair behind her ear.
Lovely portrait, but also story and what blows my mind is how you approach people, I'm so jealous!!!! I can't do that, I'm shy related to those approaches, like a scary child. Great shot!!
Wendy thanks for flagging that up.Hadn't’ seen it first time for me I think!
Wish I could give helpful advice. Perhaps think that they are entitled to refuse so that when they say yes, which most do, it will be a nice surprise.
