My plan each day is a walk around the garden with my camera and 'trekking' poles. They are an encumbrance in terms of photography but I would not get far otherwise and usually find a fence/hedge where I can prop them while I take a shot.
Yesterday I was rewarded by the antics of a few ladybirds on the rockery plants. I don't know if it's true but they seemed to hear and react to the camera shutter in the same way that birds do.
Lovely close up detail Hazel we only have a little garden not a trekking sized one, sounds like we are both still shielding at home I only venture into my garden trying to stay safe:)
Aha, Peter - my poles are not for proper trekking, just walking! We have been out a short distance in the car a couple of times, no problems with social distancing etc when we reached our seaside destination - not a Blackpool-type beach!
Cute, these seem to be the orange version rather than the red ladybugs we used to see around here. I think the orange seem to be coming more dominant in number.
lovely light haze, i may have done a 50 per cent crop and lost the lower half , so you only have one ladybird and some beautiful negative space to showcase it . Stay safe :)
Wendy, I am very lucky as Ray recently re-made the rockery and edged one side near the path with a big railway sleeper. So I sat on it to take these shots, otherwise the focus would have been difficult.

I've had a try at that crop Phil but the ladybird then seems, to me, a bit top heavy - thanks for suggestion, as always!
There is something about ladybugs that brings back childhood memories, so I always enjoy seeing them.

There was some sort of mini plague here one summer of ladybirds reputed to come from America and looking rather different from our native ones.
