Today is our son, Neil's, birthday and we decided to have a meal at home. I pot roasted a whole shoulder of lamb for 3 hours with fresh herbs: mint, parsley, thyme, rosemary, bay leaves; basted with olive oil, lime juice and clear honey. Plus Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and parsnips, sprouts.
But what you see here is the pudding: chocolate angel pie from an American cookbook, not like an English pie but a concoction of meringue, chocolate and cream.
And in the inserts: Neil's latest t-shirt from 'his' group Vixen, newly reformed after the sad death of its founder, Jan, just over a year ago.
And a bottle of sparkling red which we had to drink with the lamb (durif, merlot, shiraz, cabernet).
Sounds delicious Hazel The main course of lamb really tickles my fancy , in fact I feel very hungry all of a sudden !! I am afraid I would have to pass on the pud !! (diabetic ) Happy birthday Neil !
It definitely was, Skip!
