a house sparrow in a garden pot

At least I think this is a sparrow. Can anybody confirm or otherwise? They used to be such common birds but not any longer. Somehow the markings don't seem quite right for a sparrow.
That looks like a Dunnock to me Hazel I get them in my garden and they are quite jerky on the ground looking for insects. Lovely capture.

Dunnock? I don't think it's a sparrow - it's in my mental file of SBBs (small brown birds)!

Could be a female sparrow but I don't know what a dunnock looks like. I have lots of sparrows in my garden.

Thanks every one for comments, and for the suggestions of this being a dunnock. Googled 'dunnock + image' and that's definitely what it is - something else I've learned on 365!
