A scene from this year's TV series 'Wolf Hall' was shot in this corner of the Master's walled garden at the Hospital of St Cross and Almshouse of Noble Poverty.
It's called a hospital, Sam,but it's a secular almshouse. The men have to pay rent and be financially self sufficient so perhaps that's why it's called 'noble' poverty! Great place for photography interior and exterior shots.
Yes, the only place you cannot go is into the men's personal quarters but there's also the Norman church, an old part including kitchen with original 'mod cons!' and the gardens. I posted a few shots this week including one of the exit yesterday.
Yes I can see this old garden would lend itself beautifully with that series......I remember them seeming to take lots of walks in the garden...only place they could be private I thought!
A great view on and capture of this beautiful garden.
English gardens are famous in our country. There are special holiday trips arranged to visit them.

I didn't know whether to be serious or make a joke about it, Ferry! Thanks for reassurance!
