in the case

The squirrels didn't have a monopoly on the chestnuts: I came home from our trip to the local woods with a camera bag half full of them.
Just in case?

Lovely shot, do you roast the chestnuts or just play conkers with them, ha ha.

The Crimson Rosellas really love our Chestnuts and manage to extract the yummy nut from it's spiky case :)

Ha ha that's better to have a bag with you Hazel I collected a few conkers in spikey shells and the only place I could put them whilst I was taking photos was in my bra. Ouch. I love your shot and prickly shell . Are they big enough to roast ?

@sgtpepper

Funnily enough a local hostelry is called Just in Case - as well as a restaurant, it's a wine shop. But we all call it Fred's after the owner who is a bit of a character and wears short shorts all year round. He used to have a Jack Russell which lay outside the entrance door but sadly is no more.

@wendyfrost @onewing

I only roast potatoes, parsnips and carrots and the occasional beetroot. Chestnuts are eaten au naturel. Wendy such devotion to photography!!!

Chestnuts are so gloriously Autumn, the shiny brown conkers in that prickly case, something very special,about them.

@eyesmile

Well I'm pleased as I was wondering if this shot was a bit mundane to post.
