We took Jinks to the seaside yesterday as the weather had cooled down a little. Our intention was a walk on the prom followed by full English at Caffe Lee.
As we rounded the corner from the car park and stepped on to the prom, Malcolm, who was sweeping up, saw us and immediately propped up his broom and came over to say hello - to Jinks! He, of course and as usual, was happy to make a new friend and jump about in excitement.
Malcolm said he thought Cairns were clever dogs and my reply to this was 'too clever for their own good'. He told us that he used to have a Cairn called Dixie and a Westie called Tulsa.
Unfortunately when he and his wife parted company, the dogs went to live with her because, having a full time job, he could not be at home sufficiently to look after them. I commented that I thought this was a shame; Malcolm seemed fairly philosophical.
I asked him what dog he would get if he had a chance later in life and he replied it would be a Cairn.
The idea was germinating in my mind that it would be a shame not to use Malcolm's story so I explained my strangers' project and he was more than willing to have his photo taken. No portrait lens with me, just my little camera which I have been lauding. It was Malcolm's idea to grab hold of the broom for the shot and I liked having the sea as a background.
We said our goodbyes and Malcolm said it had been good to talk. The breakfast was also good and Jinks sat under the table and had treats of toast, sausage and bacon.
Hey we both now have a beach / promenade cleaner on our strangers project. Struggling to keep my photostream vibrant and different at the moment. . I have lots of flowers lol.
Brilliant portrait capture a great pose from Malcolm and background . He looks a happy person who loves to stop and have a chat especially if you have a little dog like Jinks.
Remind me of yours Phil - should like to have another look. I find it strange that one minute I have hardly any pics and the next I'm overflowing with them. I always have flowers of course but, at last, they are losing a bit of appeal for me!
Yes, one of the few eating places Jinks can come into with us. It's why we patronize it - and the food is good of course!

My beach cleaner from fuerteventura ☺
Ah yes, thanks, remember it now - uncluttered background and great narrative!
