After missing the woodpecker this morning I decided to take my camera and portrait lens out as I've had a lull in my strangers' project. However, I had 3 refusals, very unusual and a shame as one of them was the Master of the almshouses at St. Cross, a fine, distinguished-looking man, wearing his black robes.
So next I drove into Winchester and parked up, getting into a boring misunderstanding about the parking ticket because my camera, which I was using instead of a watch, was still set on winter time - not much point changing it now, I guess.
I picked up a sandwich, drink and a packet of fruit in Boots for the £3 meal deal but when the cashier rang them up, the total was £6.65 - I did a double take and she explained that I had the wrong packet of fruit but kindly kept the queue waiting whilst I went back for a smaller one.
A seat near the cathedral close seemed a good place to eat my lunch and a young man came and asked about if he could also sit there. I thought my chance had come but he got out his mobile and started a long conversation with a garage about problems with his car.
So I came home with a few not very good flower shots from the Master's garden on account of the wind.
Probably the worst day I've had photographically and my photo explains how I feel about it!
What a sad tale of woe you have for us today hazel, just look at it this way tomorrow can only be better, love the simplicity of the subject its beautifully captured and presented:)
Neil is cooking supper - chorizo rice - and he's very partial to a glass of wine so I shall pass on your suggestion - red methinks!
Thank you. I thought the barbed wire was just right for purpose!
I hate barbed wire but find it rather photogenic!
