No such thing of course and I guess mistletoe is the cuckoo of the plant world.

As a child, it fascinated me and I tried rubbing a sticky mistletoe berry into a crevice in an apple tree but no success.

Lovely image and story Hazel, more try to get rid of Mistletoe then grow it, it should have worked on an Apple tree, the best time to try is February and March on Apple Hawthorn, Poplar, Lime and conifers trees:)

Very common here in tbe south of England. Too high to get a piece for Christmas though and have to buy some!

It's so high up Hazel, I thought it went up the trunk not in the branches like this! It looks like rooks nests!

They have made quite a colony on this tree. We get lots of mistletoe here. It doesn't seem to damage the host tree though.
