there's no smoke without fire

posted for fiveplustwo-figuresofspeech

This little offering has its origins in a horrible culinary experience I had this year when the grill pan caught fire when I was cooking the evening meal.

That's me cowering in the corner, wishing Ray was at home, which he wasn't, so I knew I had to do something fast, which I did after a few seconds' delay which seemed like hours, and all was well that ended well.

The sausages, on a plate under the grill pan, were unscathed, so we got dinner too!
That sounds rather dangerous, lovely image.

scary, but only afterwards once the adrenalin has worn off, i nearly set my kitchen on fire a couple of times, do you mean to tell me you took a photo of the flames before putting them out? lol

Thanks you the explanation Hazel, I thought it was an abstract image at first, nice to know it all worked out OK and dinner was not lost in the production of this image:)

@kali66

No, no, no!! I created this abstract at the time as a sort of catharsis! I think it started as a photo of some heather in the New Forest - and then I thought it could be the basis of no smoke without fire!!!!

It’s a brilliant image, although I don’t like the sound of your close-call! All’s well that ends well!

Thank you for all your interest and comments.Nearly didn't post this as it's a bit OTT! Probably the scariest moment of my life and I was paralysed with fright at first. Luckily I remembered that I had left two huge bath towels in the utility ready to go back upstairs so I grabbed them and stifled the flames. We had our dinner and afterwards found the discarded towels on the tiled floor had started to ignite again! We DID have a fire extinguisher but I had no clue how to use it. We have a fire blanket on the wall now, hope never to have to use it. (It was the residual fat in the pan which caught light and the flames were really big, happened in a trice.)

Scary experience! You've dealt with it well. The most important thing is not to extinguish with water!
