"If I had a Hammer"

This song title seemed appropriate for this Pileated Woodpecker who seemed to be staring so intently at the nail, as if to say If only I had a hammer! It is also suitable for his intense pecking activity while trying to get at the suet. His head is like a hammer.

I get excited if I see one of these impressive birds at a distance, but you regularly have them UP CLOSE! The red feathers at the back of his beak almost look like lipstick-painted lips.
