Butterfly and fossils

This red admiral seemed attracted to these old fossils in bedded in the limestone rock of my area. There are numerous fossils on an island not to far from my home. Some of these have been relocated to my garden where they provide an interesting back drop to passers by like this red admiral.

I love the shade cast by his protective wings onto the rocks. Makes you wonder what's under there that he is protecting.

My son studied geology and has loved fossils since he was a young boy. How great to have them in your garden and the pretty butterfly looks lovely against that backdrop.

My granddaughter just informed me that she likes collecting fossils! That's interesting that the butterflies like to land on them. Good shot!
