Mighty Moose

The tiny black fly is the only thing that can terrify the might moose of Northern Ontario into the open, weighting in at over 800 lbs and standing over 6 feet at the shoulder.

Great catch- I don't know if I'd be so awestruck I'd forget to take the shot or I'd be snapping away. It must have been amazing to see this.

looks like you got pretty close to him, or he got pretty close to you, kathy. if i see this guy, i'd probably shrink so he doesn't see me, never mind the photo. :-)

@mccarth1 Thanks Kerry for the comment, while driving through the northern woods this moose was on the side of the road probably escaping the black flies. As we approached him he slowly walked back into the woods, looking back occasionally to check on us. I took this photo right from the car window in the rain and fog.

I know if you go up around Rangley this time of year you have a very good chance of seeing a moose on the road driven there because of the flys.
