Such a passionate color of purple! It's a beautiful iris bloom, so nicely photographed.
(Back on my llama picture you mentioned their bad habit of spitting... the one in the picture never spits, which makes him such a joy to be around. The other, more grumpy fellow gurgles as a warning that he's thinking about helping us decide to step back and stay away. He misses out on walks on the lead when he's stupid enough to threaten to spit on us. Once he's left behind he's so sorry for his bad behavior and instead hums at the gate. Sometimes my husband refuses to go back and get him which I think has taught him not to threaten spitting so much. Then there are times he's just awful and spits anyway. Bad llama.)
I'm finally getting the chance to read back through comments on earlier pictures and have come across yours where you mentioned retiring. Congratulations, Kathy! Best wishes at getting time to slow down so you can relax, at least on occasion.
I envy your beautiful Iris- none of mine bloom (probably not enough sun and our soil is not good)- but even if they did, the deer would probably eat them!
Beautiful capture. Love irises. Some years I had a whole large box-full of bulbs which I had pulled out of the soil and I gave it all away. Now I miss them.
@lyndemc Thanks Denise, this Tuesday it will be 3 weeks that I have been retired. So far it hasn't sunk in that I don't have to go back to work, it feels like I'm on holidays! Hoping for more time to do photography! Nice to see you back on 365. :)
@radiogirl Thanks for the welcome back. It was odd, being away and not having the goal of picture-taking in my life. While there are days it's still a challenge to accomplish, it's always worth the effort. I can imagine how it would yet feel like you're just on holiday with it only being a few weeks into retirement. I bet your camera is happy to being spending more time with you! Thanks for the follow-up note.
