Okay your probably saying big deal ..but for me it is ..each year i'm getting worse worrying that one day i wont venture out at all, when we get the sludge turn to ice i become an o.a.p so this morning i put on my hob nail boots and walked to the bank and and got a bag of groceries from Rainham and made it back unscathed and without humiliating myself holding on the wall doing a rather ungainly spider man shuffle down the top of my road :/ did do a little walk in the road until a massive lorry was behind and braved it back on to the pavement lol no broken bones and back with medication for flu son n#3
Love your shot! Not a silly fear at all, I am the same, and getting worse each year too! I had a small accident a few years ago where I lost control of my car on ice and skidded and had a bit of an accident with another car, although not serious at all, it made my nervousness for ice and snow much much worse. I love to see the snow but only when I know I don't need to be going anywhere! And don't mention the feeling of slipping and slidding on my feet, it makes me go funny just thinking about it!!
Great image and I can sympathise with your plight. But you went out (yay!), you made it back (yay!), you took a great photo (yay!) AND you have fabulous footwear!!!!! (YAY YAY YAY YAY!!!)
I tried walking over a bridge today and was literally sliding back down it... It really winds me up that they don't provide any grit for footpaths or cycle paths - suddenly the only thing they care about is buses. It was so bad in Cambridge last winter that A&E was packed out - I had to cross a road with a steep camber with my hands on the road - its rubbish!!
well done for doing it - it's getting really icy on the paths at the moment, we had packed ice everywhere for months last year and the year before, this year it's so late it's going to clear reasonably quickly with any luck
I guess when I look at snow it looks so beautiful and magical and soft and white....don't realise that it's wet and slippery and all that other bad shit that goes with it....SO A BIG YAY FOR YOU Nic xox
And I'm glad you made it out and back unscathed. :-)
Love your boots too.
