@kwind@jamibann@craftymeg@s4sayer@pyrrhula@olivetreeann Thank you. I suspect many of us are of a similar age and think more about our independence. Losing one's car, especially in an area like mine where there really is a dearth of public transportation, is the first step in losing one's independence.

Spot on, Kathy! Although
we're only 30-40 minutes from central Rennes, the capital of Brittany, public transport to the rural outback is all but nought. Brittany is one of France's principal regions for agriculture, animal husbandry not to mention tourism. Tourists, from all over the globe, bring their own transport or arrive in coaches.
I keep threatening to take the bus to Rennes one day, just so that I can speak from experience! Until now, one day has had a mythical quality...yet as I write this, I'm thinking maybe it's not such a bad idea. It stops lots...think of the photo opportunities. Watch this space!
Out of the box thinking gives often great unexspected results.

On the flip side there are regular buses to Rennes on a daily basis, although very few start from Paimpont. So unless you go on the red eye, you need transport to go to Plélan le Grand to catch the bus!
