Seems like a good place to perch

Gratitude Day#30
I'm so grateful to live in a place that still has wild animals and birds. This Cooper's hawk was sitting on this wall on my carport when I arrived home. It sat and sat and when I could stand it no longer to sit still and got out of the car, it flew around the back of the house. From in the house I saw it sitting on some shelving at the edge of the patio. I couldn't get a good shot because I startled it to get the camera lens through the blinds. Still exciting.
Great capture

They sit and wait for a bird to come by.

Well caught! I never have any luck, as soon as the camera comes out they’re gone!

Different wildlife here. We had a pair of blackbirds here last week, foraging in the garden. Crows have their 'murders' regularly hereabout, whilst sparrows, robins and blackbirds are never far away...and the weather is exceptionally mild.

Lovely shot.

Wow! Just perching on your wall and not a care in the world. That is exciting! I don't mind these shots because you can't prepare for them- you just have to catch them as you can.

Good capture, even though you didn’t think so. 😃

Wow! Amazing to see a hawk so close to the house.

@jamibann I doubt it is too friendly. A bird of prey.
@wakelys Yes. A lady I met not too long after my husband died told me that when I saw a hawk it was the spirit of my husband coming to check in on me. Somehow this is comforting. I told him I was doing OK.
@ziggy77 Thanks Jo. I think so too.
@tunia It probably was hunting something down below the wall. A lot of times little birds get in those shrubs. But I have a rat out in the garden behind the house. I wish it would get that! Oh yes and the moles that are tunneling all over the yard. It can have them too. @craftymeg Thank you Margaret. I only had my cell phone and I was shooting through the windshield which left a glare. I zoomed in on the cell phone camera and those photos are never very good.
@s4sayer Yes I have cardinals and finches and wrens and blue jays at the feeder. I even had a bright bluebird the other day stop in.
@haskar Thank you.
@olivetreeann That's why I posted it Ann. I'm glad I had some sort of camera to capture the event at all.
@jb030958 Thank you Jennie.
@pyrrhula Thank you Ferry.
@thewatersphotos Yes. I've had hawks land in the garden behind the house which is a little further away from the house, but to be on the carport and the patio, I thought was a bit amazing.
