52 Week Challenge 2021 Week 1 - New: Let’s forget about the year that was 2020 and start fresh in 2021...
Get-Pushed Challenge #441 My gp partners asked me to try my hand at split toning, keeping it subtle rather than the bold style. This was a bit challenging for me. First of all, what is it and why does one use it. Then trying to use the tools in Lightroom, which has done away with split toning slider bars and added a color grader. Well I liked the white highlights to the "bunny" and the warmth of the wood. So I added some yellow-orange tones to the shadows and more blues to the midtones and highlights. I brought up the vibrance to make those little pinkish specks more visible.
@farmreporter Can't believe I've already posted an image in response to the get pushed challenge. It's only Tuesday. I hope that my explanation makes it more clear how I used the subtle changes to meet the challenge. I enjoyed this. It's always good to study some technique and find that it seems clearer and easier to use than it has in the past. Thank you.
@s4sayer Thank you Margo. I wish I had take a photo of this yesterday afternoon (you can tell I'm not a housekeeper) because the sunlight was streaming in on it and it was lovely. It didn't look quite as nice today because the sun was coming and going through some thick clouds. But perhaps it ended up even pretty with all those sparkling things mixed in. BTW, did you ever get your pattern? I will try to mail it in an email if you didn't.
I am seriously impressed with your skills! I wouldn’t have had the first clue how to go about this! Your end results are remarkable. I never thought I’d like a picture of a dust bunny but this is terrific!
@tunia When I have time and inclination I enjoy trying to post-process. This was done in Lightroom so not as fiddly as Photoshop. You should do only what you enjoy Tunia. @pyrrhula Thank you Ferry. @jb030958 Thank you Jennie. At first I didn't like to post-process but I find I rely on it too much these days. @grammyn Thanks very much Katy. You're so easy to impress. @farmreporter Thank you very much Wendy. @thewatersphotos My original placement would have been a bit more mysterious and I thought about using a theme like that Gary. I'm finding too many of them lately. My housekeeping's really going to pot. @jamibann Yes, you look and say "where did that come from?!" Thank you Issi. @bkbinthecity Finally now we know. @wakelys I hate housework. That's why I have these big dust bunnies. Thank you Susan. @lyndemc Thanks Denise. And you're welcome. I felt I needed to do this to verify the split toning done for the challenge. Unless it almost over the top, I don't think I could pick it out. @craftymeg Thanks Margaret.
Good for you for experimenting with that unfamiliar technique. Who would’ve thought that the subtle coloration of a dust bunny could be enhanced? Amazing!
Good for you- I like how you approach these challenges as opportunities to learn about things like split toning! I have a feeling you were a top-notch student in school! Good shot.
@pyrrhula Thank you Ferry.
