For as long as I can remember I have always loved taking photos. As a young child I had a 35mm compact camera and I got roles of film on my birthday and on special occassions and I loved making photos, getting them developed and showing them around.
My first holiday job was to save up for a second hand Minolta XG-M camera, a whole new world opened up to me. My dad had some old cokin filters, I saved up some more accessories and lenses and really got going on it. I loved the total creative control that camera gave me. Even now I sometimes get a new battery for it's light meter and stick in a fresh role, just to play around with it :-)
Things have changed, and when I got started on this 365 project I got a complete new boost in my need to make and take photos, and I treated myself to a proper Nikon D5000 camera with 2 lenses. I now have that creative control again I used to have on my Minolta, but with the added benefit of having instant satisfaction that the digital age has given us :-D
In my daily life I have the good luck that I'm involved in many different things, rowing and coaching at my local rowing club, several volunteering efforts I like to join in on, many friends on fantasy fairs and I live a few minutes away from the loveliest bits of nature here in the Netherlands. So I'm always surrounded with photo-opportunities. I really do like how the 365 is encouraging me to try out new techniques, look at the world a bit differently and step out of my photographic comfort zone. And most of all the excellent community around this site. Cheers to you all!!
Ps. as a special request from the forum to include where you're from, I'm in the Netherlands
