One Enchanted Evening by redy4et

One Enchanted Evening

When in paradise, there is no choice but to photograph what is right in front of you. So here's tonight's feast for the eyes, SOOC! We lounged at the water's edge with a glass of white wine, as the colors went from blues and grays to golds to a mind blowing explosion of red- orange.
OK, this was SO worth missing out on the dragon dances tonight! The sky is gorgeous, and between the reflections on the water, and the palm trees anchoring the scene on the left, all I can say is FAV!

Hi Elizabeth! Just got your message about the lenses and felt both pleased and awful at the same time! Thought I'd swap messages off the 'current page'
Yes, it's brilliant about the vision, can't believe how much I can see without even trying... the bit at the beginning and end of the day is the worst... taking them out is by far the hardest bit so well done for persevering and getting it done when you must have been upset and shaking last night, I really feel your pain! I had no problem putting them in yesterday but this morning didn't manage it, it fell on the floor, had to find it (with my specs) rinse it in the fluid, try again, and again, and again and pick it up off the floor again, and wonder if it was turned inside-out....!! In the end I had to walk away for 2 mins, come back, do the other eye and then the first eye again, remembering to do it slowly and like I'd been taught in the opticians. Phew. Did it, blinked, got on with the day!!
My sister (who wore the awful glass ones from her late teens) said she did them over the bathroom sink - WITH THE PLUG IN!!- (having lost a couple of lenses down the plughole!)
It is such an intricately tricky thing to do with the tips of your fingers on such a sensitive organ as your eye with something so small and fragile, I think we deserve a medal each for simply managing 24 hours!! I'm about to take mine out now (I couldn't do it at all with my left hand so am cack-handedly doing both with the right hand) and will take a deep breath, do it in slow-motion and think relaxed swift thoughts while I'm doing it!
Everyone says the taking in and out is the trickiest bit - once we master that we'll be ok.
Well done for trying it, I know what a big deal it is and feel I have really accomplished something this week. We Will overcome it I just know it! xx

By the way, this is breathtakingly lovely - so glad I didn't miss it altogether! Following you now so I hopefully won't miss your others! :)

How's it going? I had a day off yesterday (she had recommended 6 days in 7), and predictably took a few tries both times today but all ok when I got done! So many friends say 'oooh I'm too squeamish with eyes for that' which just reminds me how very brave we are being!! :)

Morning Missus! I'm two weeks in to my lenses now so I'm guessing you've finished your trial? How did you get on? Had a horrid day yesterday, couldn't focus properly on anything and got home to see one of the lenses had gone!! Was it still in?! My 'check-up' appt was in the afternoon, he assured me it wasn't in my eye so I guess it fell out when I gave my eyes a rub in the morning after putting in no2 which stung. He suggests I use 1+ reading glasses (off-the-counter) when I want to settle down with a book as I have to concentrate on my short-vision otherwise it's back to near 20:20.
Funny - when he ascertained that the lens wasn't in my left eye he asked if I could put the spare one in ... I did it first time, said 'like a pro' and blinked and it fell out!! Pride before a fall........!!!
Off to the eye hospital today for a check-up on some treatment I had done last year, no lenses and it's almost - but not quite - a relief!
Have a lovely day whatever you're up to :)

@filsie65 hi Phil! Not too proud of myself because I wimped out I've been wearing glasses all week! It's allergy season so my eyes are itchy and red.The past two tries my eyes got so irritated that I had to quit altogether.
So I'm waiting for a day when there's no wind - I know, excuses...I'm glad your experience is going well - except for losing it in the eye. When I try to take mine out- I can't tell if it's in or not so I know the feeling. Or lack of it! Thanks for the moral support. I do appreciate it!

@redy4et Hello again - hey, don't be remotely crestfallen about it - makes no sense at all to wear them if your eyes are suffering. I awoke at 4am last week and didn't get back to sleep - by 3pm my eyes were so red and sore the lenses came out without hesitation. I had a horrible 'accident' this morning when I got some antiseptic cream in my eye... golly gee it hurt so much I couldn't even open my eye to take the lens out. I can't imagine wearing them with irritated eyes. I think I'm glad to have the option and know I'm glad to put them in (successfully?!) in the morning and I'm glad to take them out at night. We do what we can do and what suits us best. :) Sending a sympathetic hug across the Atlantic :)

@filsie65 Appreciate the hug!!!! Actually, you are motivating me! I put in my lens today at noon-- popped it in on the 1st try! I'm doing pretty well with it-it's so freeing to be able to see without the specs! Well, except for close reading but I can see the computer screen and that's amazing. So I'm going to take it out soon instead of waiting until late when I'm tired. I'll let you know how I do:)
