Went down to the shore for a sunset shot and found myself in the midst of a feeding frenzy of seagulls screeching and vying for bread crumbs being thrown their way by a young couple and a child.
It was quite an experience standing below hundreds of gulls dive-bombing a few feet above my head, hoping they wouldn't drop their load on me before I got my best shot. I got out of there with a dry head.
Absolutely stunning shot. The birds are an awesome, caught at the right moment, addition to the already gorgeous sunset. Have ot tell you my story -- We were in the tiny fishing village of Zihuatanejo, Mexico, and the fishermen had just come in in their small boats. They were throwing pieces of fish up in the air to the pelicans. I was standing out in the water, looking into land, taking photos of the activity. When I got back on the tender to return to the ship people were hesitant to sit next to me. I was covered in pelican poop. Oh well, I got some incredible shots, and I'd do it again.
That is a fabulous picture, the motion, the color, the multitude of birds against the palm trees....definitely FAV! BTW, there were tons of birds at the beach here today, too....surprisingly congregated around the cluster of surfers...couldn't figure out what was going on....glad you were able to catch this one!
great capture and glad you came out of it unscathed. i'm wary of seagulls because i've been a victim of their indiscriminate evacuation projects. hahaha!
The silhouetted birds are a fabulous addition to an already good image, and en masse they look almost threatening. I've tried to capture flocks of birds before and it always looks messy, this is the answer! Fav.
btw, fav for me.
