We are currently on safari, touring in an open land cruiser as South Africa transitions from the dry to the rainy season.
Thorny vegetation is abundant, with a few green leaves just beginning to appear on the trees. When our guide yells " duck" I respond by diving into the lap of whoever happens up be sitting next to me to avoid being swiped by these vicious thorny branches. I've been lucky...so far!
