Toucan by redy4et

Toucan

This flashy, colorful Collared Aracari is one of the most recognizable birds in Central America. The large bill enables the bird to search deep in tree holes for food. Toucans eat fruit such as papaya and berries and typically forage in the middle canopy layers of the rainforest. This one was in a tree about 50 feet above us as we hiked in a volcanic region of Guanacaste.
What a find! And to find it in nature -- more special!
