The red rocks of Sedona took on many hues of color and shadow as the afternoon sun began to sink toward the horizon. This is Cathedral Rock, probably the most famous landmark in this part of red rock country. On the lower part of the slope of the rock formation on the left, you can see some remaining snow from a storm earlier in the week. We hiked a short distance down the trail to get away from the road and the telephone wires.
Fabulous capture of Cathedral Rock! So beautifully composed with interesting foreground. It's hard to put the camera down in Sedona with all the beauty that surrounds you everywhere you look. I love Sedona with its rich colors and textures, and your photo brings back pleasant memories.
Oh how beautiful this is! Though I lived many years in AZ (50-60s), Sedona wasn't the destination it is today, and I'm so sorry we missed this in those years of sight-seeing. So pleased to see you're having an obviously-good time!
