Sphere within a Sphere

This bronze orb, by sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro, is located in the courtyard of the pine cone outside the Vatican Museum. It is a cracked orb, showing another cracked orb inside, symbolizing the fragility and complexity of the world.

Oh Elizabeth, this is one of my favorite public sculptures and it just hints at all the wonderful sights around the corner in the museum! Clearly you're having a fabulous trip!
