Catching Some Rays

Galapagos marine iguanas spend the early morning hours basking in the sun to prepare for the day's activity: searching for algae to eat. The waters are extremely cold, which cause the iguanas to lose heat while feeding, forcing them to return to the rocks to warm up. This fella is about 4 feet long.
This place is high on my bucket list, I have always wanted to go. An amazing capture - he looks as if he has frost on his spiny back!

Intriguing to see how the gray fellows actually do have color. And that water -- just wow!

The water, alone, in your photo looks like a Monet! I can't believe how crazy-big these iguanas are, but I'm loving every photo that you post!
