Pine on Cascade Lake

Hiked the Cascade Lake loop today, and passed this tree that reminded me of the twisted pines along the Monterey coast. I don’t think they grow this far north so this must be a different variety. Locally it’s known as the “jumping off” tree because the point juts out, making it a perfect spot to jump or dive into the chilly water.
What a beautiful scene - caught my eye from the latest page! It does look like the Cypress in Monterey. This is beautiful and inviting!
