Where were you in 65?

I saw this beautifully restored, bright red bug parked at the curb and it reminded me of the time when I learned to drive my uncle's light blue bug with a stick shift. Back in the day! The car was actually cherry but I did a bit of vintage processing.
Great shot. Brings back memories. Bought my first VW in 1969, and owned another 3 during the years to come.

Amazing the longevity of these old cars. I definitely don't remember anything of 65....

What a great POV -- and capturing the license, icing on the cake!

This makes me sad. We had a 1963 VW Bug for almost 25 years. Both our kids learned to drive on it. My daughter had it with her when she was living in an apartment while going to college. It was stolen during the night from the carport behind her apartment. Never found. It became a sand/dune buggy, probably. Oh we missed that little car.

They are such happy cars - and the black white seems to show off the curves better, without the distraction of colour.

Oh dear, in 1965 I was a young teacher in Walsall and couldn't drive. This shot makes me feel old
