Ruby Red! by rhoing

Ruby Red!

Each year my dad sends a box of honeybell oranges and ruby red grapefruit from a grove in Florida. It's something to which we look forward every January! A sister-in-law gave us grapefruit spoons many years ago and I have a curved knife to loosen the sections. Mmmmm!

January 2022 edit This was posted before I became a regular at the greenhouse and interested in plants. Turns out that “grapefruit” trees are not a distinct species, but rather “a citrus hybrid originating in Barbados as an accidental cross between the sweet orange (C. sinensis) and the pomelo or shaddock (C. maxima), both of which were introduced from Asia in the 17th century. … In the past it was referred to as the pomelo, but that term is now the common name for Citrus maxima.” —Wikipedia

@hey_danes Yesterday was a woefully-less-than-creative day, but this project is ultimately about the “everyday.” Since this is our “every day” once the box arrives in January and I didn't have anything more interesting, this was yesterday’s post! Also, @oneinodd had her white dishes the other day and it looked cool!

@hey_danes P.S. And it *is* delicious! Small, but never “mealy.”

@appealswoman Yeah? Well one of these days you’ll see the French press, which Clare calls the longest 4 minutes of the day!
