Day 101 by rhoing

Day 101

Today I am preparing for a doctoral student’s defense of her Ph.D. dissertation tomorrow. I looked for “101” embedded in her regression results, but alas, there wasn’t one. So this will do: a table of contents reference to page 101. This also fits the numbers theme. In spades!

I can’t help but recall the Benson & Hedges commercials: “A silly millimeter longer, One-oh-one…”

Umm. Initially forgot to note: 101 is “prime”.
Looks like some intense reading material!

Good theme shot, and funny, but I also remember that commercial

@digitalrn Thanks, Rick! Then you probably could hum the tune; it was pretty catchy! Hand update?

@cynak It is pretty intense stuff actually, but *useful* stuff. She tackled a relevant problem with an innovative approach that no one had tried before. And, of course, that's exactly the point (or the goal) of most Ph.D. dissertations!

@rhoing Good day today, much less pain, and beginning to go without the splint. Feels good to move a bit more.

@digitalrn Excellent news! Excellent!

Thom were you, by any chance, in honors algebra Freshman year at KHS?
April 7th, 2011
Nice! Ahhhh, the joy of statistics! Hope she fairs well!
April 7th, 2011
Thom, do you think you can help me with my anova results that I have to submit in a report? :o) Great photo.
April 7th, 2011
@exposure4u Me, too, Wendy. She's a single mom from Africa...
@sitiodown Tari, this is terrible: I don't remember! I had Schultheiss for geometry, Zulch for algebra & Ewell · http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=574893032967&set=t.37615691&pid=34790191&id=37615691 · senior year, but I don't remember freshman year! I think my report cards bit the dust long, long ago (in a galaxy far, far away!)
@michelleyoung You may have meant this in jest, Michelle, but I have had "Uncle Thom's Help Desk" for two of my nieces. I've taken questions on both economics problems and calculus problems. Analysis of Variance problems? Fire away! ;)

Thom don't tempt me, I have the results of the anova but and I know how to type up the results section, but its the interpretation of the results that make me confused lol
April 7th, 2011
Lovely shot Thom, this reminds me of using the statistical package for the social sciences, i still have nightmares about it now, the words standard of deviation makes me break out in a cold sweat :-)
April 8th, 2011
@michelleyoung Ah, yes. I can help with the mechanics and the math (or "maths" as you probably say), but the interpretations are another matter!
@tori3012 Thank you, Victoria! (“Victoria” or “Tori”?) Ah, SPSS. Cold sweat, eh? But that’s all in the past now, right? Now it’s law, right?
