Today I am preparing for a doctoral student’s defense of her Ph.D. dissertation tomorrow. I looked for “101” embedded in her regression results, but alas, there wasn’t one. So this will do: a table of contents reference to page 101. This also fits the numbers theme. In spades!
I can’t help but recall the Benson & Hedges commercials: “A silly millimeter longer, One-oh-one…”

@cynak It is pretty intense stuff actually, but *useful* stuff. She tackled a relevant problem with an innovative approach that no one had tried before. And, of course, that's exactly the point (or the goal) of most Ph.D. dissertations!
@exposure4u Me, too, Wendy. She's a single mom from Africa... @sitiodown Tari, this is terrible: I don't remember! I had Schultheiss for geometry, Zulch for algebra & Ewell · http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=574893032967&set=t.37615691&pid=34790191&id=37615691 · senior year, but I don't remember freshman year! I think my report cards bit the dust long, long ago (in a galaxy far, far away!) @michelleyoung You may have meant this in jest, Michelle, but I have had "Uncle Thom's Help Desk" for two of my nieces. I've taken questions on both economics problems and calculus problems. Analysis of Variance problems? Fire away! ;)
Thom don't tempt me, I have the results of the anova but and I know how to type up the results section, but its the interpretation of the results that make me confused lol
Lovely shot Thom, this reminds me of using the statistical package for the social sciences, i still have nightmares about it now, the words standard of deviation makes me break out in a cold sweat :-)
@michelleyoung Ah, yes. I can help with the mechanics and the math (or "maths" as you probably say), but the interpretations are another matter! @tori3012 Thank you, Victoria! (“Victoria” or “Tori”?) Ah, SPSS. Cold sweat, eh? But that’s all in the past now, right? Now it’s law, right?
