Pipevine Swallowtail (corrected) by rhoing

Pipevine Swallowtail (corrected)

Talk about hard-working! Graceful, yes, but it was tiring just watching and following this butterfly!

Confirmed at BAMONA as “Battus philenor” (family, Papilionidae; subfamily, Papilioninae) or “Pipevine Swallowtail”; http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/sighting_details/724376

Note. Incorrectly originally identified as a dark form female Eastern Tiger Swallowtail.

Update. This image is on the BAMONA species page for this species, http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species/Battus-philenor

Petunia genus page at PhytoImages, http://phytoimages.siu.edu/cgi-bin/dol/dol_terminal.pl?taxon_name=Petunia&rank=genus

@sitiodown Indeed, they are! I wish I’d gotten a better one with its head deep within a bloom; I would have called it “All in.”
