Floral stemware? by rhoing

Floral stemware?

This bud looked so cool! I shot it close-up from directly above and it’s a bizarre image. Rotate the camera 90° and this sideways view is quite striking. Will have to watch how this bud opens. (I think it’s an Allium-to-be. Okay, it’s already an Allium, but you know what I mean…)

A year ago was my 100th post (“Day 100”): http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2011-04-04
Lovely shot! I am fascinated by budding plants.

Great composition! I think it may be an allium, but I could be wrong.

@karens68 Thanks! Not sure we have allium. How about an iris?
April 7th, 2012
I don't think iris...have you solved it yet? Has some expert told you what it is? Anyway, Iris green b ud things are flatter than this....and the flower inside is not so frilly...This photo's c olor and composition is great!

@espyetta You're right; it's not an iris. Tomorrow we're having dinner with a master gardener; I will have to try to describe or take my camera (which I do anyway because she has lovely gardens and he cooks such wonderful meals!)...

They are of a spider species that I have seen and even shot photos of a few times...and I figured out it IS a spider in that web (tiny) and he is putting crap in these balls on the line....but was not sure. Robert Velten is on here and a spider expert and he verified...the spider is called "Trash Line spider" or some such...very cool to learn that.

@espyetta Thanks for getting me to figure out what this one is: how about allium?
April 16th, 2012
Hmmm...I just google imaged allium. That looks like what we call "wild onion" here. And it has these hard purple buds in there but yours is fluffy petals..... I don't KNOW! haha

Okay....did more research...not alot out there to find..but I think you may be right...maybe it is Allium sphaerocephalon..... see this site....
