(SOOC; not even any cropping.) This is a true “macro” shot. While the recent butterfly and dragonfly images were captured with a lens zoomed out to 250mm from a distance of a couple *feet* and then cropped for the close-up appearance, this image was taken at 51mm with “close-up filters” attached to the lens. The lens glass was maybe two *inches* from the petal and leaf. No cropping for the close-up effect; this is the frame as shot.
As I have commented on others’ images, I am often drawn to photos with limited color palettes and that’s certainly one of the appeals of this image for me. Certainly not as dramatic as the Eastern amberwing, but I hope you like this one, too.

I love how the tiniest bit if the underside of the purple tip is green to match the leaf blade. Perfect focus...perfect! Love the color combination too....fav!
