Finally! by rhoing

Finally!

My first post-able hummingbird (Archilochus collubris, family Trochilidae)! It was in a campus garden next to some greenhouses.

The plant is Canna edulis (common name, “Achira,” family Cannaceae).
Taken outside SIUC’s PLB Greenhouse, http://www.plantbiology.siu.edu/facilities/plant-biology-facilities/greenhouse/index.php

@freddiegeraldtew @marshmallows @jillmstruss @dandtsgal @moonshadow @xtech @ellen @myautofocuslife @psychographer @kamb @michelleyoung @soozieqt @anazad511 @lyno @lindag @cmc1200 Thank you *EVERYONE* for your comments, FAVs and helping put this on PP! One of the things about being middle-aged and requiring reading glasses is that I am never really certain about any shot until I get home and preview it as it uploads to my computer. So my excitement when I shot this was quite tentative. This bird lingered here only long enough for me to get two frames. I was fortunate to get the shot.

@jsvigil Thank you for letting me know, Antonio! I really appreciate it!

Amazing!!! Fantastic.

@ladyjane Thanks so much, Jane. In cases like this, the most credit goes simply to being ready at the right time. She only let me have 2 shots at it and I'm fortunate this one was well-timed and well-focused!

@heidicalendar Thank you, Lucie!
