My first spidy-post… by rhoing

My first spidy-post…

Not to worry, Clare; this was in “my usual” campus garden again (rather than in our house!). I have no idea what kind of spider this is, but on a — yet another — low-frame-count day, this was among the few interesting shots. There’s an Objects-In-Mirror-Are-Closer-Than-They-May-Appear reflection of me in the Black Pearl berry (Capsicum annuum), but I thought this guy actually looked somewhat cute. You know, “for a spider.” Also, since MaryBeth doesn’t “get on this site very regularly anymore,” somebody has to pick up the spidy-slack!

The plant is an ornamental pepper, “Capsicum annuum” in the Solanaceae family.

Species page at PhytoImages, http://phytoimages.siu.edu/cgi-bin/dol/dol_terminal.pl?taxon_name=Capsicum_annuum&rank=binomial

Taken outside SIUC’s PLB Greenhouse, http://www.plantbiology.siu.edu/facilities/plant-biology-facilities/greenhouse/index.php

Exif shows a focal length of 55mm. To get this “close,” I had the “+4 close-up filter” on top.

Hey Thom! Not walking as much as I should, but JUICING it up like crazy. I have been drinking freshly made juice (veggie, with some fruit) for breakfast instead of my old "Egg Mcmuffin/no muffin/no cheese, Hashbrown and diet coke" at McDonalds, then eating carrots and celery in a small hummus for snack, then a juice I made in the morning for lunch, with any veggies/fruits that the school cafeteria happens to be serving, and some times a juice for most of my dinner. I have been feeling much more "normal" and have dropped a few pounds. I have also been editing pics and going through pics like crazy and want to start posting some on my project...they are fillers, but I love so many of them and want to use them...they take a long time to take, weed out the bad ones, edit and then post...that I get so behind. So I am just going to start putting them up even if they are from three weeks ago.... Now, I am getting my oil changed and have lots of conferences to prepare for that start on Monday. But I am going to get on this site this weekend sometime! I am determined! Now...on to this photo! WOW! I love those berries AND the spider. And your reflection in the berry. So cool! He is one hairy dude. The spider, not you! Haha This is sheer gorgeosity! (my favorite non-word word) LOL Fav!

@espyetta Thanks for a thorough update, MaryBeth! Don't lose heart on your program; it is, I'm sure, a "distance race" and *not* a sprint! But "gorgeosity" *should* be a word! Thanks for the FAV! :)
