“Tall oaks from little acorns grow”

[SOOC; 23rd-hour desperation]
Today we went to the memorial service for a friend who passed away in the last few days. Some 26-plus years ago, Sandy was a “Saturday angel”: while Clare was assigned to bed-rest for the last 8–10 weeks of her pregnancy with Grace, Sandy would come and pick up toddler-Jenny (whose birthday is tomorrow!) and take her for the day. Sandy would bring Jenny back, as often as not, with a crafts project they’d done during the day. Your generous spirit and kindness will never be forgotten, Sandy!

She had apparently had some serious health problems in the last several weeks. We trust that she is in a better place now and her passing reminded me that — like the acorn — bigger things are in store for us!

According to Bartlett’s, the quotation is from Sydney Smith (1771–1845); http://www.bartleby.com/100/329.1.html

So sorry for yet another loss Thom. What a sweet tribute that you wrote for Sandy and I'm sure that she loved serving you guys. Great shot of the acorns and I love the quote.
