Common Buckeye by rhoing

Common Buckeye

I hardly saw any of these this year. While I don’t need to submit this to BAMONA for ID’ing, I will submit just to document that a few of these arrived this far north this year. Last year it seems I saw a lot of them.

Confirmed at BAMONA as “Junonia coenia” or “Common Buckeye”; http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/sighting_details/937972

@gizathecat Thanks, Lydia, but it *is* a butterfly! Same family as -- well, take a look: http://365project.org/tags/nymphalidae

@rhoing Wow! I just don't associate butterflies with such muted colors. Learn something new every day!

@gizathecat Precisely the epiphany I had two summers ago when I started paying attention to butterflies and moths and, in particular, "skippers"!
