Last butterfly of the year? by rhoing

Last butterfly of the year?

But what a shot to go out with! It wasn’t very warm and I didn’t expect to get any “critters” outside when I noticed this Monarch right in front of me. Probably because of the temperature, this butterfly was very tolerant of me and I managed to get quite close with the 60mm lens! Don’t think I’ve ever photographed a Monarch with its wings down this flat!

Confirmed at BAMONA as Danaus plexippus or “Monarch”; http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/sighting_details/938109

They say when a butterfly visits, its someone who passed coming back to say hello :) It could be the last one of the year.. A beautiful one, making a brave effort.
