I was near the lake when I saw these turkey hens in a clearing, with a couple of chicks nearby. Since I have been seeing butterflies by the lake, I had my longer lens on the T2i so I was ready! I snapped a few frames before they disappeared into the thicket behind them. I got out of my car and tried to get more, but there’s a reason it’s called “thicket,” so I headed back to my car. As I got to the car, 7–10 chicks were scampering across the road to join their mothers and siblings. I snapped two frames of the chicks, but this is a better shot of the hens’ feathering.
Another windy day on the lake, but another day not at work!
