First time snorkeling! by rhoing

First time snorkeling!

[SOOC] Selfie with my better three-fourths.
… And glad that rowing induced me to purchase a camera that’s waterproof to 18m!

A highlight of the trip already (perhaps even eclipsing the visit to the USS Arizona Memorial): the first time I put my face in the water with the mask! There is an entirely different world below the surface of the water! Thank you again & again for this opportunity, Greg & Suzanne!

I only wish I could enjoy that. I tried once but freaked out and had to get out of the water.

@digitalrn Why did you freak out? Having the mask over your face? Having to breath through your mouth? I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to keep my mask "clear," but that wasn't a problem. I don't need corrective lenses for distance, but Clare does ... and they have masks with vision correction built-in! She was amazed!

@rhoing I learned to swim later in life and I am not the most fond of being in water. When I am in water I like to be able to touch bottom, so although I had a flotation vest on, no problems there, after about a minute it hit me, there is no bottom. Didn't go into panic mode but that's all I could think about so I had to get out. Josie and the kids finished the excursion. It was while we were in the Bahamas, and the water was beautiful.

Love this shot! I'm not on here much anymore, but now that I know that you're in Hawaii, I will be checking back to see your pics.
