Painting prep. (The new color will be “Golden Gate.”* how can you go wrong with *that*, right?)
As mentioned a couple days ago, our master bathroom is getting its first complete makeover. Clare's mom hung wallpaper in this “toilet room” connected to the rest of the master bathroom, and a border throughout. It has taken Clare & me a few hours to get the wallpaper and border down to this small patch behind the toilet tank.
Of course when Mom did this several years ago, Dad provided support and Dad always did things the right way. In this case, he certainly would have removed the toilet tank so Mom could paper behind. So like father-[in-law]-like-son-[in-law], I removed the tank to get at the wallpaper behind. The shut-off valve is original to the house (*not* one of the newer, ¼-turn valves) and this may be its last off-and-on-again sequence before it will have to be replaced.

So far so good, although there's a bit of a curiosity about the structure of the porcelain stool where the tank drains into it. More about that later perhaps…
