‘Unbudgeted’ time

I knocked over a cup of coffee and it spilled onto my chair cushion. This was "the last straw," so to speak: Clare & I looked at what would be involved in laundering the machine-washable cushion covers.

Removing the cushion from the chair is simple and removing the cover from the cushion is simple, too. Not-so-simple is putting the cover back on the cushion after they shrink a little through the "cold-cold" washing and air-drying processes. But they all look better now and are back on duty.

Ah, the unanticipated tasks that take up “unbudgeted” time… (See also, “snowball effect.”)

February, 2023 update.
We have recovered the chairs ourselves!
$50 worth of fabric, but lots of staples. And I mean, lots of staples!
