Does perfume “go bad”?

Clare came across this bottle and said it no longer had the same good fragrance and asked me to dump it out. (I had to get a tool to pry off the metal collar that secured the spray mechanism.) I searched online and apparently bottled fragrances do, in a way, “go bad.” They don’t “spoil” in the way food spoils, but their fragrance can be altered by [prolonged] exposure to sunlight and large swings in temperature.
