All's well that ends well…!

While walking on the beach this evening, I crouched down to greet some canines and without my knowledge (or permission), my beach shorts ejected my wallet.

We were still walking away from our point-of-entry when I realized I didn't have my wallet, so I looked on the beach during the return walk, looked carefully around-and-under Rod's truck, tore apart our room back at Linda & Rod's house — no wallet.

My sister phoned the Emerald Isle police and spoke to the chief. She also facebook-msg'ed a sergeant's wife, by which time Clare, Rod & I decided to go back to our parking spot on a side street to look more carefully in the bushes next to the road.

Rod was approaching the Emerald Isle fire station — two blocks from the police station! — and my phone went off. My sister reported that the sergeant had called and he had my wallet! Whew!

We are heading home in a couple days and it would have been difficult to buy 880 miles' worth of gasoline without a credit card if we'd canceled them. Also, we'll probably need to spend the night in a hotel somewhere along the 880-mile route. And there would be the issue of driving without a license…

But thanks to an honest person who found my wallet on the beach, I have it back! She was persistent trying to find me from the information in my wallet … without success. When she gave up, she phoned the police, who picked it up where she was staying, and thankfully my sister's resourcefulness completed the connection to resolve the issue in a matter of just a few hours.

During the drive back to where we'd parked, I said I know that God doesn't work this way, but if I got my credit cards and driver's license back, then whatever money may be left is going in the collection basket on Sunday! All the money was still there, so our church will get a bit of a bump from us on Sunday!

Also, my wallet now has a business card with a phone number or two on it. Does yours? If your wallet were found by an honest person and turned in, how easy would it be to reach you?

Huge fav! I love the blues with that little tinge of sunset. Thank goodness for your good Samaritan. My dau-in-law left her cc at the gas station this week, but the manager is her renter so a few phone calls saved the day. Have a safe trip home.

Great story. If my wallet were found, it would be hard to find me! That's unfortunate. I have been seeing some cards posted lately with a notice that the person's dog would be home alone and please go take care of him.
