Clare's mom received a photo album that her brother assembled. It has decades-old family photos. In the photo above, "Helen" is identified. Helen was Clare's maternal grandmother, so this photo probably dates from the 20's. (Correct me if I'm wrong, Mom.)
Part of my point with this post is that we may have photos of our *parents* as teenagers or young people, but our generation, at least, doesn't often see photos of our *grandparents" as teenagers or young people. Of course that is changing now, with cameras having become more commonly owned over the last few decades (and now in phones).
