Macy’s, Chicago (formerly Marshall Field & Company)

Attended our first live opera performance today: Puccini’s “Turindot” at Chicago’s Civic Opera House (1928). Great experience!

After dinner, we walked around a bit and wandered into the former Marshall Fields store (now a Macy’s). This is a look up and all the levels of escalators. Gray-scaled to eliminate a couple distracting blotches of color.

BTW, sign at the Opera House: “Mom already has a scarf. Try opera tix this year.”

Super capture. I wonder how different life would be if Macy's didn't snap up these regional favorites.

Well done -- it's still so sad for all of us that it became Macy's.

@taffy Sad, indeed. It's already been more than a decade. At least for now they've seen fit to maintain the grand space in the Loop.
