Common Buckeye (below)

This brushfooted butterfly is so colorful, striking, and unmistakable when its wings are down, but not-so-much when its wings are up. I initially thought this might be an Emperor so I'm pleased I figured out it is instead this "temporary colonist" at my latitude.
